You will never be that which you can’t
You will never say that which you won’t
You are forever trapped in your skin
Fighting a battle you will never win
No one knows just how it feels
When emotions are never real
Living life from day to day
Hoping maybe, there is a better way
There are a lot of people, but no one is around
When that smile becomes a frown
People see you but they will never know
The hopeless seeds that were sown
There is no love, so they will never grow
So you wait because only god knows
That you will probably die before you live
Because love and compassion you can never give
You fight an enemy you know so well
It makes up every single cell
Of who you are, or what you will be
You will never be like ‘they’ are
Even if you win the battle, you will lose the war.
A friend recently told me they thought this poem was about HIV. *scratches head*

Awesome poem. About the endless struggles of life I’m thinking. I like the last line a lot too, says “no one gets out of life alive” to me.

Thank you for visiting my blog and commenting. You are spot on in regards to the meaning of the poem. That’s the beauty of art; it’s open to interpretation. As for the last line, I was basically saying that the struggles of life never end. Unless you die. Thanks again.
