If I can’t be me, then I don’t want to live
God blessed me with this knowledge and to all, I must give
I am what I am, and that’s the way it’s always been
I know I wasn’t conceived or born in sin
For years I had sight but couldn’t see
What ‘dutty’ Babylon had done and was still doing to me
The veil has been removed from my eyes
I don’t accept their history; I can see it’s all lies
I know we were the first and will be the last
Our future is beautiful, and so too was our past
The builder didn’t refuse this stone
We were mighty and glorious, and we stood alone
Black is the color; Africa is the home
They say we turned our backs on God
So we lost the powers that we had
Their rhetoric is so silly; their denial is so sad
Our only fault was we lacked unity
So they played us with impunity
But today there is a new Negro
He wants all that they stole
And they better believe he’s going to get it
Even if a few heads got to roll
There is no doubt or misconception
We are preparing for a revolution
They are pondering the outcome; they want to know the conclusion
Black Pride, Black Upliftment and definitely Black Redemption.
