I was nominated for the Song Challenge by The Bag Lady. This challenge is new to me, and even though I have been a little busy, I wasn’t going to pass on a music challenge. I know I am going to have fun participating and I hope you guys ‘come along and ride on a fantastic voyage‘ (I had to drop a song lyric to get started.)

This song is one of my favorites, and I listen to it almost every day. Even with a digital music collection of well over 40,000 songs, this song always finds its way on my playlist.
‘Name‘ is about life, our experiences and growing up. It’s about acknowledging our pasts, but not being burdened by them. Knowing that life is about the journey and not necessarily the brief stops, temporary positions or places we find ourselves in trying to get to our destinations.

40,000 songs is a lot bro! Tell us more about how you started the collection. Had any mishaps where you almost lost some because of a crashed HDD or whatever? This could be a mini-series. I know from when I was on Twitter that you have a broad musical taste so I’m intrigued by this.

I was a heavy user of file sharing software in the early days eventually I graduated to torrent sites and any other means I could get digital music. If I knew somebody with a CD I liked, I would get a rip.As my collection grew, I became known as the ‘music man, ‘ and I started selling music CDs on the Jamaican streets.
I have had close calls with my external hard drives, but no mishaps (Thank God) and I ensure I always have a backup of my collection. I also have an extensive digital movie and DVD collection.
